FUTURE ASPIRATION

The 5 intermediate classes came in the street and sat down. Mr Burt introduced us Mr Andrew Patterson , and four other seminars. Mr Patterson played a video about this boy named Iavana Seuala. He did a speech in the education festival , He talked about striving to succeed.

Our first speaker was Mr Anthony Samuels , He talked about his life when he use to be in the show What Now it was really interesting. He gave us a  Korero To miharo hoki it means you are amazing and said Never let the past determine your future. He played a video about famous people who never let their past determine their future.

Our second speaker was Paula Fakalata , His life of a school boy was really inspiring and funny. He was a great swimmer in Glen Innes intermediate because he was tallest for his age and the pool was shallow for him so everytime he gets tired he can run underwater. Everyone called him secret weapon. One time when their team into a swimming competition he entered the aquatic center  all he thought was winning. But when he entered the water  he started to swim a few seconds later all of them were so Paula tried to stand but he couldn't it was too deep. He felt embarrassed when he came out of the pool. His message to us was to don't think you can't do it you don't try.

Then it was the last one Her name was Amelia Unufe. She talked about how she became a fashion designer. She was in university and kids her class knew her they said to her ‘’ You're not  

gonna get a good future” because of her two  brothers they were into gang stuff she heartbroken. A few years later she made it into AUT ( AUCKLAND UNIVERSITY OF TECHNOLOGY) she had to make a choice between Art and Design. She picked design because she had some skills when she was young and now she is one more year then she will get a degree. Her message to us was to don't let other peoples expectation ruin your influence.

It was great hearing their story Mr burt ended us off with a prayer then we walked back to class.

A GOOD FRIEND

Being a good friend helps each other in everything they do in school or in sports . He encourages his friend to never give up and put all your effort in it . A good friend explains his friend what to do if he does not understand

examples:

- Help him  with his work

-Explain to him if he does not understand the game

- Giving him some good advice

A good friend makes his friend happy like buying him food and giving him a gift. They study together at each others houses and never laugh if makes a mistake because he might cry and he might feel really embarrassed. A good friend will never backstabs him.

. If you have a good friend he will help you and give you money or anything. Make the right choice and choose The right friends or friend. Because he will help you and give you everything . That is why you choose a good friend.

                                                  Lydia Ko

Lydia Ko is a professional golf player who was born in South Korea in Seoul. She was migrated in New Zealand and thats when she started her career as a golf player. She was a top ranked women amatuer player for 130 weeks. She was announced to be a professional player on the 23rd of october 2013. She was the youngest ever player to be in the LPGA tour she was sixteen at the time.

This year she won five cup and she has one more to go and if she wins this one she will become the youngest ever golf player to win 6 Cups. She is going to be one the best golf player ever in golf history.

TEAM FIVE

It was team fives turn to show our topic. The teachers from team five went onto the stage. They started painting an unusual object, well thats what we thought. When the teachers finished their painting they moved to the side of their painting and I took a little glimpse but didn’t really get it.

The teachers came back and turned their painting around “then” I saw what they painted. they painted Mr. J Miss. Jarman and Mr. Burt. The painting looked magnificent. I didn’t know the teachers in team five had skills in art.

Everyone was amazed because we have never seen anything like this. Everyone was clapping even the parents it was the best. Overall all of the teams were the best. Overall the assembly was amazing there were some funny facts some interesting stuff to learn about. Then Mr Burt ended off with a prayer then we went to class.

La Luna

We watched the opening scene from the animation La Luna. We had to write two paragraphs each describing the scene.

The  bulky man was smoothly paddling the dingy one peaceful night. The sky was illuminated by stars, shining. Their reflection were reflected in the sea like a mirror. A lantern was dangling from a stick at the back of the boat, swinging with each stroke. A boy in the middle of the boat between two adult men was peering into the sea at his own reflection. He was confused about what they were doing.

They paddled and  paddled.  The man pulled up the oars and the boat glided on the sea coming to a stop. They were in the middle of the sea surrounded by darkness. The old man gave the boy a gift. Puzzled he opened his gift. As soon as looked inside  he opened his mouth with a surprised face.

As we entered the hall we saw five people standing dressed in maori clothes. We sat down with peace and quiet until we heard powerful voices. They started off with a play about how the world was made it was how papatuanuku the god earth and ranginui were separated by their sons so there could be light.

They greeted us with pleasure, introducing themselves and shouting out ‘’kia ora and’’ we were shouting back to them ‘’kia ora’’. They had well pitched harmony and they were like comedian it was really funny.

Usain Bolt is a Jamaican sprinter who is widely known as the fastest person ever. He is the first sprinter to hold both the 100m and 200m world record. He is the first man to win 6 gold medals in the Olympics. He was awarded the athlete of the year and he earned a media name which is the Lightning Bolt.

He completed his medals collection  in the 2014 commonwealth games winning the 100m relay. He decided to retire saying that this was his first and last appearance in the Commonwealth games. He might be missing out for the Gold Coast Commonwealth games but he will still be known as the fastest man ever.

STAN WALKER

STAN WALKER

Stan Walker is a New Zealander singer who was born in Australia on 23 October 1990. He started his singing career in 2009 releasing his first album ‘’ Black Box’’ and was on the top on the New Zealand billboard. He carried on with his singing career which made him so popular that he was chosen to be the judge of X Factor New Zealand.

This year he decided to write a song for his country New Zealand for Maori language week and it was featuring Ria Hall , Troy Kingi and Maisey Rika. It was a huge hit and it was first in the New Zealand Billboard 2014. His life has become a success.

Diving

Diving is a sport that has been in the Olympics since 1904. It is an  international sport. In the Olympics there are no 1 metre springboard dives just a 3 metre springboard dive and 10m high platform dive. It is a sport for acrobatic, athletic people who can balance themselves and people with flexibility and kinesthetic and air awareness. These were the most common characteristics in this sport.

The way the diver performs is crucial. the judges score 3 points for the flight, 3 points for the entry, 3 points for takeoff and an extra point they can add for excellent diving. Extra height means a higher score. The body position of the diver has to be straight and both  feet together at all times. The diver needs to have an accurate dive and has to perform stunts like somersaults and twists. The more complex the moves the more points they can score. But you also have to enter the water vertically. The athlete with the most points is declared the winner.

Walking to the courts seeing our new kiwi sport teacher her name was Sophia, she is an Argentine. She said to us with a croaky voice “ Come and sit down we are getting started with our first session”. She sounded like Manu Feildel from MY Kitchen Rules because her english wasn’t really that good.

She told us we are going to play a game and told us the instructions , the game  sounded really fun. The game had no name but all we had to do was when she calls out the persons number you have to run and get the ball in the middle and shoot it in goal. It was really fun and the game made us learned some other skills.

After we played she told us to sit down and she was talking about our discipline on the field when you are

playing in any sport. After she told us about our attitude our teacher told to stand up and line up. So walked into our classroom with happiness because that was the best kiwi sport sessions.
